One thing I have worried about was travelling with HRT to other countries. I was worried about security and also losing my medication. I remember before my first holiday post receiving HRT I saw @lisa_snowdon going to Dubai. Have never reached out on Instagram and not expecting a reply I messaged @lisa_snowdon to ask about travelling with HRT and guess what, she actually replied. How lovely is that?? I’m forever grateful as it allayed my fears and it was so kind for her to take time out to reply. What it showed me is other people are going through menopause out there and genuinely want to support each other where they can.
Checklist
I’ve travelled quite a bit since so below are a few things I find helpful to stop me worrying and ensure I’m adhering to other countries requirements. I’m not an expert but these are just my reflections that I thought may be useful to share.
- I check out the countries rules on medication via their embassy. If I’m unsure, I will email the embassy directly. I have always had replies, then I print the response out to accompany the HRT
- I gain a print out of all medication from the GP to accompany my medication. You can also pay for GP letters and letters from private menopause clinics
- I carry all medication in original packaging
- I carry them all in a large clear makeup bag so they are ready for security
- I carry all medications in my hand luggage to avoid loss
- I always seek medical advice where I’m unsure. This also helps with worry.
Happy travels!
Side note: if you are going to be in a swimming pool and applying suntan lotion, it’s worth considering when you apply your HRT for optimum effectiveness.
