Lets talk footwear and mid life

So since I hit my 40’s I’ve had to reconsider my footwear. I used to waltz around in flip flops, “cheap and cheerful” ballerina slippers and sandals without a care in the world. I spend and invest in my gym/running trainers but this didn’t always translate to my everyday footwear. Fast forward to now and the same shoes cause heel or arch pain. Think it has something to do with collagen production which is impacted on by estrogen but anyway……… I digress.

Anyway I’ve had to reevaluate what I wear on my feet and look after them a little more. I now consider foot support and comfort with ALL of my shoes.

Can you relate to more foot pain as you have got older? Anyway just because you want to incorporate support and more comfort into your footwear, doesn’t mean you have to compromise your style. Cushioning helps take the impact of the day to day for your feet.

Below are some ideas for a touch more comfort when you are clocking up the miles on these streets:

  • Trainers: lots out there and with varying support. Can dress up and down. You can also get mid and high top trainers ideal for rainy/wintery weather. You can even get wedge and platform trainers!
  • @birkenstock . A firm favourite in the high street and they do cozy versions for those cold snaps
  • @nextofficial do a comfort sandal range, worth a look. @teva have some lovely comfy sandals too
  • There are even heels out there with cushioning . I’ve bought @aldo_shoes and @tedbaker heels, both of which have extra padding and were “stomfortable” (stunning with comfort). Also reasonable price points.
  • Foot care is important, invest in a good foot cream like @loccitane and/or a pedicure. We can expect our feet to do so much with so little care, let’s give them a little pamper
